2022 AAH! health event: blood drive & cpr training

Partnering with the American Red Cross, we held our annual blood drive. With 32 donors, the event can contribute to saving the lives of up to 96 people. Thank you to those who contributed to addressing today's significant blood supply shortage!

There is currently an extreme shortage of blood needed for lifesaving transfusions, and the Red Cross is crucial in solving this issue. Even one donation can save up to three lives. A blood transfusion is needed every two seconds, and there is never enough supply to meet demand.

Cards for kids event

Cardz For Kidz is a global non-profit organization dedicated to providing support, smiles, and encouragement to children, families, seniors, and veterans in hospitals, schools, and senior living. To support their mission, AAH held a card making event with students, parents, and others, making over 140 cards with 60 volunteers. A big thank you to everyone who supported us!

Organized by Elly Kang (co-founder) and Medha Gunda (Alpharetta Local Chapter head and Community Outreach Director)

Another interest of mine is engineering, especially in computer science. A few courses I have taken to create my basis in computer science include AP Computer Science Principles, AP Computer Science A, Digital Media, Amazon Web Services Foundations, and Computer Concepts. Overall, I have a strong basis in all core subjects like language arts, science, math, and social studies with a 4.3 GPA and enjoy helping others out, regardless of the subject.

I am extremely patient and I tend to see mistakes as an opportunity and not something to be afraid of. I am very patient and can easily adapt to a persons speed of learning things. When someone asks me a question, I explain it the best I can until they understand. Whenever I am in my free time, I tend to write short poems or debate with my friends about topics in certain books. Ex: Were Romeo and Juliet really experiencing love or was it just a short spark of excitement? I also perform in my high school band and I play the Alto Saxophone. I am hoping that tutoring at AAH would help me take one step closer to my goal of becoming a teacher.

Hello I am Alyssa Lee, resident in the United States and currently a freshmen attending in Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science, and Technology. Hello! My name is Leonardo Choi, and I am a freshman I'm highschool. I currently attend the Gwinnett School of Math Science and Technology. I can teach every math up to Calculus, history, science, and a few instruments. Some extra ciricular things I do I play in my school's top band I swim I am in a dance team known as KVI

For me, math has always been the subject that would push me past my comfort zone, and because of this, I fell in love with it. Every time I received a grade lower than what I knew I was capable of, it urged me to study harder and learn more, past what was necessary; each new topic being of increasing interest and fueling late night research immersed in mathematical concepts. The satisfaction that came with every equation that worked, every factor I found, every formula I used correctly was nothing short of amazing. I would challenge myself not to rely on a calculator whenever I was allowed to and focused on honing my mental math capabilities. It was my initial desire to have the highest grades which drove me into the field of math, but I immersed myself in it because of my genuine curiosity in the intricacies and originality of math. Being able to see a tangible output based on the fruits of your work is a rare gift for any subject, but math takes this concept and seemingly compounds it. Every new concept I discover, every new formula I understand, it all comes together to make math the subject that I feel confident in dedicating my educational journey to. In my free time, I love playing the cello and tennis with my friends.[Courses taken: up to AP Calculus BC (5 on exam), and Computer Science A (5 on exam)]
